The Center for Eating Disorders at Sheppard Pratt provides a comprehensive continuum of specialized care for children, adolescents and adults with eating disorders. Our holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to recovery helps individuals and families move beyond surviving to thriving.
Actually, just seeing the ad makes me think it’s ironic – kind of a parody of our stupidity, because it’s utterly impossible to change body in such a way (thing that comes in mind is Kate Harding’s dog theory – mastiff to pug) and only a deeply brainwashed individual would be fooled.
Or am I, perhaps, to optimistic?
By the way, I know of real people who look like both images. Incidentally, they are both completely normal individuals. My super-skinny friend doesn’t look grotesque nor she has an eating disorder. I completely accept people looking like that, not my business.
But I sure don’t accept fooling anyone that they should change from body A to body B (or other way around) because someone tells you to, and it’s neither healthy or natural for their specific body.
So I decide to laugh to this ad. It is this what is grotesque, and not our bodies.
